Twenty One Clairtrell
See what a difference life at Twenty One Clairtrell can make. Stop by, take a look around, and speak to residents. Here’s is what they say: “you can enjoy the pleasures of a slower-paced, calmer life in a traditional North York neighborhood where you can look out your window and see trees, lawns, and greenspace.” People looking for their perfect condo in the Sheppard and Bayview area are happy in their new homes.
When the Rockport Group released the condos in 2012, it was apparent that there wasn’t a huge range of choices for high-rise living that wasn’t in a group of condos packed check to jowl. Kirkor Architects made sure to remedy that. Twenty One Clairtrell was a welcome surprise. If being surrounded by lots of traffic, buzzing streets and an army of neighbours is your cup of tea, then finding a new condo here is a problem. But if you are one of those people who prefers a gentler lifestyle amid open spaces (not your neighbour's balcony), the choice is yours.
The Rockport Group - the company that launched the move toward condos in the GTA 43 years ago - has once again shown that it is among the most innovative, buyer-sensitive builders in the Golden Horseshoe. The Twenty One Clairtrell condo mid-rise is an address that says it all. This seven-storey boutique building has just 128 suites and sits on a one-acre property in a well-established residential neighbourhood surrounded by detached houses and townhomes, just a block north and west of Bayview and Sheppard. Rockport president, Jack Winberg, calls it the best of two worlds. "The nights are free of traffic noises and the days filled with the neighbours walking the dog or mowing the lawn," he says. "Yet within a five-minute walk you can be shopping or dining at Bayview Village or catching the Sheppard subway to head downtown, or indeed anywhere the TTC goes."
Designed by Kirkor Architects & Planners with interiors by Mike Niven Interior Design, Twenty-One Clairtrell is built with affordable luxury in mind. Its suites, ranging from about 550 sq. ft. for a studio right up to expansive 2,400-sq. ft. penthouses, have all the bells and whistles discerning residents want in their homes. The ground-level suites have their own private patios; those on floors two through five have spacious balconies; the penthouses on the 6th floor have large terraces - their own private parks in the sky. The penthouses on the 7th floor even have their own private roof gardens, accessible through an interior staircase.
"Our goal was to provide the perfect condominium for young professionals or empty nesters who love the area but do not want to live in a large-scale high-rise community," says Winberg. "We know these are people of considerable sophistication, taste and judgment. What they want is great design, wonderful fixtures and finishes, and a relaxed lifestyle." Twenty One Clairtrell caters to that lifestyle with simple, enduring amenities. There is a state-of-the-art exercise room, a mud room for pets, an elegant guest suite, an impressive lobby complete with fireplace, a concierge on duty eight hours a day, places to store bicycles, and a wonderfully welcoming 6th-floor terrace complete with its own adjacent lounge and bar.
The suites themselves are textbook examples of form and function. Kitchens have European-inspired cabinetry, a choice of quartz or granite countertops and European-style ENERGY STAR appliances. Ceilings on the ground floor and in the penthouses soar to 10 ft.; those in the middle range have a full nine-ft. ceiling height. Floors throughout gleam in a choice of engineered hardwoods. Baths are warm, welcoming places with a selection of porcelain or glass tiles to choose from, marble countertops, and frameless and separate glass-encased showers in the master suite bath. Everything is modern and state of the art.
